Kassandra Linklater is a Political Science student at Kwantlen Polytechnic University who strives to be on the forefront of a new generation of innovative youth leaders in Canada and abroad. Having been heavily involved in her community from her youth onwards, Kassandra has had the opportunity to serve in a variety of positions from marketing and new media consulting, not-for-profit management and event co-ordination.

At the age of 22, Kassandra has had over five years of international business experience. In 2005, Kassandra was asked to participate in Junior Team Canada’s economic and development trade mission to Malaysia and Singapore where she had the opportunity to represent. As the youngest member of the team, Kassandra was ignited by the experience and has since worked with several organizations that aim to foster entrepreneurship and youth engagement.

After her success on the mission, Kassandra was asked to represent Western Canada at the 2006 APEC Investment and CEO Summit in Hanoi, Vietnam along

with five other young Canadians. The team was given a once in a lifetime opportunity to develop a presentation and marketing strategy for Canada’s presentation at the APEC CEO Investment forum. The team’s presentation attracted over 150 top-level business and government officials and resulted in several successful partnerships.

Kassandra recently was selected to be a team leader in August of 2009 with JTC, where she traveled to Ecuador and Panama and reported on Canada’s Corporate Social Responsibility practices as well as develop business opportunities for local companies. The team had the opportunity to work with several major Canadian companies including Aecon Concessions, Canadian Commercial Corporation, and mining initiatives; Kinross, as well as Corriente Mining.

Believing in the principles of thinking global and acting local, Kassandra has been involved in several grassroots organizations such as the North Delta Rotaract Club, Rotary’s RYLA – both as a participant and as a facilitator, and currently sits on the organizing committee of Rotary’s Adventures in Leadership, a youth conference aimed as 15 -17 year olds.

During the Olympics, Kassandra plans to get out there and share the stories that will hopefully live on well after the games has left our great city.

Kassandra is currently the News Editor of Kwantlen’s independent student newspaper – The Runner and is a member of Kwantlen’s President’s Ambassadorial Team (PAT) and the Vancouver Board of Trade’s Mentor program - Leaders of Tomorrow.
